Indigenous People’s Day Celebration
2024 IPD is observed on October 17
The Indigenous People’s Day Celebration at NC State through the work of Multicultural Student Affairs strives to educate the campus community on Indigenous culture and provide a voice and opportunity for Indigenous students and organizations to share their experiences and identities.
North Carolina is home to eight state and federally recognized tribal communities: Lumbee, Haliwa-Saponi, Meherrin, Waccamaw-Siouan, Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation, Coharie, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, and Sappony. NC State strives to uplift the voices of these communities in tandem with tribal nations across the country.
